Meet Faizur

Hi, I’m Faizur Rehman, a designer, content creator and educator.

About me

I’m a designer living in Prague. I grew up in India and have lived and worked in a few countries since. Somewhere along the way, I started sharing what I learned about design, business and mindset.

Since then, I’ve worked with everyone from early-stage startups to teams that have raised over $25M. And 100,000+ designers now follow along online.

Most are great at the craft but were never taught the business side. Same as me.

What do I do?

Good question. Design, mostly, but it rarely stops there. I’m a minimalism nerd who loves organising things, and I look at every project as a designer and as a business owner, because good design needs both.

Some days I’m a creative director or consultant for founders and companies. Other days I’m behind the camera, recording videos and reels that help designers get better at design, and at getting paid for it. Different roles, one goal: work that looks good and actually pays off.

So far, I’ve led design at a startup that won a Webby and a Golden Kitty, partnered with Claude, Webflow, Wix and Lovable, and written a weekly newsletter for designers. And I have a YouTube channel I keep promising to post on.

Fun fact: I studied computers, not design. So I usually build what I design too.

The Design Solo: a weekly letter on everything I’ve learned about design and business.

From designerto solopreneur

  1. 2012

    It started with Photoshop

At 12, I wanted to be a designer. At 14, I opened Photoshop and started teaching myself. At 16, I joined a graphic and web design course and got my first design job. For the next two years, I worked part-time and full-time, doing both graphic and web design.

  2. 2016

    Then I aimed higher

Over the next few years, I worked my way through bigger companies in India: an NDTV venture, Avizva and Sapient. Somewhere between them, I moved from web design into product design.

  3. 2018

    So I went all in

Then a director told me I couldn’t be a designer without a design degree. So I stopped asking for permission. I went independent, and in my first year, I made $28,000 from freelancing.

  4. 2021

    Then I led a team

At Podcastle, I became Creative Director and led the design team. We built the design system, led design for marketing and growth, and shaped the shift from a solo tool to a collaborative one. That collaboration became the focus of their $13.5M Series A.

    Then things changed

After two years of helping Podcastle grow, that chapter closed. It taught me the biggest lesson of my career: build something nobody can take away from you.

  6. 2024

    Building my own

So I did. I moved to Prague and started my own studio. It took 12 months to turn it into a real business, and soon founders and brands were coming to me. One of them has since raised $3.5M and passed 600,000 downloads.

  7. Today

    Still solo, by choice

Since then, I’ve grown the business to six figures as a solo designer. When a project needs more hands, I bring in people I trust. And every week, I share what I’ve learned in The Design Solo.

Turns out that change was good for business. Since then, I’ve worked with clients all over the world.

“Faizur is the best designer I have ever worked with - period. Not only are his designs immaculate, he puts a lot of thought and his wealth of knowledge across products into guiding better UX decisions. He is also incredibly kind and understanding, and I could not recommend him more.”
